When I fill out the form, does the information go directly to you?
Yes, it is form mail, and goes directly to a special email address, set up specifically for memorial requests only.
How long does it take to get a page?
It takes anywhere from 2-8 weeks from the date of the request, depending upon the amount of requests, and detail of each memorial.
Why does it take so long?
There are many reasons. I write all HTML by hand, and do not use editting programs. I also search the web for backgrounds constantly, trying to find the perfect background for each memorial, so that they stay original. When I get photo's, I design a special picture just for the site. I am also design a special graphic for your page, from scratch as well. I do not like to do the memorials quickly or in form style. I want each to be individual, just like your child is.
I have a web page that I set up myself, for my child.
Can I have you link to that instead?
Yes, you can!
There are only a few rules that we must abide by, in order to be fair
to all beliefs.
Your site must be able to be read by everyone. Font must be set up so that it is easy to read, and does not run over the background, or in a color that can not be seen.
Your site must not be set up with any type of political or personal views, that might be hurtful to someone else.
The site must not sell anything that you gain personal profit from.
You must return a link back to childloss.com, so that those leaving the site to visit and wish to go back, can do so easily.
The site must be about the loss of a child.
What does a web page on the Garden of Angels include?
It includes 1 full page, 1 working guest book, 1 email link so that others can contact you, 1 photo and/or atleast 1 graphic, 1 poem or saying, and one special message from you to your child. Your page is automatically linked with the Garden of Angels main page, so that those surfing in from outside can visit with your child.
If you have more than one photo, a second page can be set up, with collages designed by me, so that load time is quicker. No more than 3 photo's per child, please. We only have so much space for free up at the Garden, supplied to us at a slight cost for no pop up ads, and we have many memorials waiting, which will also need the same space.
Can you upload the web page to my own site?
Right now, no. We pay for space, out of our own pocket, so that parents can have ad-free space to visit with their child. Because we maintain them, and also have special agreements with the graphic artists to uphold their links, I must keep them on the Garden of Angels, where I can maintain them all from the same address. If you do have a site already on another web page, I will link to you, gladly, as long as it follows the criteria above. I will add a NEXT button on your web page, so that others can click on that link, and see the page. I must ask, however, that a return link on that page be placed, so that those surfing in, and visiting all the Angels on the Garden, can return easily. Surfing in happens very often, and we are listed with over 400 organizations world wide. You get the actual URL to your page, to send out to family and friends, however. You DO NOT have to send them directly to childloss.com, or to the main Garden page, in order for them to visit with your child.
Do you ever ask for volunteers or donations?
Yes, to both. Volunteers are important, and we are all in this together. We have online support people, available around the clock. We have volunteers helping with the building of web pages. We have volunteers that donate items for bereavement packages and hospital donations, for those that have had a pregnancy loss.
Donations are only needed when it is posted on the site. Cash donations are only asked for when Bereavement Packets are set up. Right now, that project is on hold, until the Free Web Pages project is perfected, and organized correctly. We use the cash donations to pay for the postage and supplies that go into the packets. When someone makes a cash donation, we send the next packages out with their child's name on it, reading : "In Memory Of:". However, donation of cash is not required at this time, and will only be asked for when needed. It will be listed on the site if this is required. Donations of items in memory of a child, to be given to hospitals, funeral parlors, and bereavement groups are always accepted, so email me at any time in order to inquire about this.
If I notice something wrong with my page, can I have you fix it?
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Because mistakes can happen, and web pages deal directly with a specific server, things can be wrong. If you notice anything wrong, from links not working, to graphics not being correct or wording wrong on your page, email me immediately, and it will be fixed!
What is in store for the Garden of Angels?
We will be adding the ability to place flowers and gifts on your site, in the future. We are also looking into a Letter to our Angels feature, in which parents and family can write something very special, in memory of their child.
During the holiday season, a special CANDLE LIGHTING page is included on the main site, so that you can have a candle burn, in memory of your child. We also encourage you writing to me on your anniversary dates, so that I can place birthday cakes and presents on your site. This, as everything else, is free of charge, and is an honor to do it for you!
